About Me

I am a writer of mystery, suspense/thriller and speculative fiction whose main characters are gay. While this doesn’t define or limit my characters, it does provide excellent opportunities for exciting plots with a twist. Many diverse writers have influenced my style of writing over the years; among them David Baldacci, John Grisham and Michael Crichton to groundbreaking novelists Patricia Nell Warren, Michael Nava and Felice Picano. Other more current gay mystery writers who influence my writing are Greg Herren, David Lennon and John Morgan Wilson.

My first full-length novel, Pretty Boy Dead, the debut mystery in a series set in Atlanta featuring closeted Homicide Detective, Sgt. Kendall Parker, was a finalist for a the 2014 Lambda Literary Award in Gay Mystery. My erotic thriller novella, Switch Hitter (co-written with Alex Morgan) was also released by Wilde City Press in 2013. I’ve just released a gay mystery/thriller short novel, Prince of the Sea. I am currently working on the next Kendall Parker mystery.

A southern Georgia native, I live in Atlanta with my husband of 30 years and four monstrous terriers!

  1. Hi Jon, I am looking forward to reading some of your books! I stumbled upon you because you did an interview with P.A. Brown…..I’ve been trying to find his supposed fifth book in the L.A. Heat series to no avail! Did it only have a few copies printed? (joke, sorta!)

My library has tried to get a copy through interlibrary loan (supposedly a library in Michigan has a copy) and Amazon has it listed for anywhere between $400 and $1600! Crazy. Why so hard to get and why so much to get it?

Anyway, thought you might have an answer to this mystery! Again, I am gonna go back to SF library to find your books…..Thanks and have a great day.

    1. David, from my research, I’ve learned that Bermuda Heat (L.A. series by P(at) A Brown – Book #5) is out of print and the contract for the e-book version with MLR Press has expired. It may be that Pat is currently still trying to get a contract to re-release book #5 in both electronic and print versions (and hopefully, audio). The L.A. series is wonderful, but Pat has chosen to work on more mainstream writing the last few years, to great success I understand.

In case you didn’t see it, here is an interview I did with her back in Sept 2013.

Thanks for reaching out to me; your library may not carry my print books (I currently have two in print), but please ask them to order them. If not, I hope you can find a resource that’s perfect for you. I’ve just re-signed and re-released the first police-procedural novel in a series with gay homicide detective, Kendall Parker, titled Pretty Boy Dead, with Lethe Press, in both e-book and print; audio will come in 2017. The other novel I have in print is Prince of the Sea, a gay mystery/romance set in Tybee Island Georgia.
